Amigo Women at NRC & UNHCR Legal Aid Clinic Kampala

Amigo Women Empowerment Association Ltd. proudly participated in the Legal Aid Clinic organized by the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), together with several legal and humanitarian partners.

The event took place at Restoration Church on Rubaga Road and brought together refugees, asylum seekers, community leaders, and organizations committed to improving access to justice and legal services.

The clinic was established to provide free legal advice, guidance, and practical assistance to members of Uganda’s urban refugee communities who continue to face legal challenges affecting their daily lives, businesses, and families.

Promoting Access to Justice

Access to legal information and services remains one of the biggest challenges for many refugee communities. By participating in this event, Amigo Women Empowerment Association Ltd. reaffirmed its commitment to empowering vulnerable women, youth, and families through information, advocacy, and community engagement.

The legal clinic addressed a wide range of important issues affecting refugees and host communities, including:

Business registration and formalization
Registration of birth certificates
Access to essential public services
Criminal justice concerns
Housing and tenancy matters
